About Cafe Brusco

Coffee shop

Cafe Brusco is a cafe in Berkeley, California. It is listed at 2000 University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704, which places it among the local businesses of Berkeley that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. More information is available on its website, cafebrusco.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 81 reviews, which is a strong result for a cafe in Berkeley and suggests consistent service.

This is the kind of place that makes you love where you live. Small but perfectly designed. Staff is exceptionally nice. And the food? Nailed it. This bagel is outstanding. True New York bagel. Crunchy and chewy and definitely not just bread. The bagels are made just a few doors down at Rose pizza. Lots of sandwich options, all of which sounded delicious. My iced latte was also perfect. Bravo!

Is it weird I feel bad giving Cafe Brusco 5-stars? This is the cafe I wish I could walk to from my house. (I can’t.) The menu is the first I’ve ever seen that gives you an option to get two different bagel half’s with two different toppings. Just Wow! Halfsies for bagels should be normalized! I do have two pieces of super minor notes: I wanted my bagel more toasted but that’s so personal and my bagel needed a touch more salt on top, which the staff gave me and voila. Perfection. Coffee options look fantastic and I did pick up a piece of gluten-free olive oil cake for later. Also fantastic.

Loveliest cafe with wonderful espresso drinks and best bagel dishes in town. My favorites are the cardamom Rose latte and the brusco bagel (thin mortadella slices with honey drizzle and pepperoncini). Dominick and Andie are lovely. Dog friendly outdoor seating but limited and in the shade, so might be a little cold so bring light jacket

It just opened recently, and there were quite a few people. They serve open-faced sandwiches, with quite elaborate toppings, not just a simple layer of cream cheese. Among the ones I ordered, the combination of The Bartavelle and Fancy Fresh was the best – refreshing and not greasy, perfect for breakfast or lunch (Figure 1) (my favorite). The ones that didn't feel strange were Figure 2 right: Crab Remoulade and Figure 3 left: Gold Standard (decent). For those who like sweet and savory combinations: Figure 2 left Brusco and Figure 5: Ham & Fig (I quite liked these). For those who prefer savory (very American cold sandwich style): Figure 4: Muffuletta (I personally didn't like this one). For those who like sweet and sour flavors: Figure 3 right: Tangerine & Burrata (I didn't dislike this one). Overall, it's a good option when you want something simple and not too large in portion size, similar to Riceful – something I might want to go back to occasionally, but not something I need to eat every day.

This was a very cozy local cafe with a real good bagel! The standout was this bagel and it was one of the best I've had in the Bay. I always compare my bagels to the ones in NYC and this was good! Recommended!
